I create original collage pieces in both two and three dimensions. While the style may vary according to the materials used, the themes of memory and dreams are constant.

My work explores the mystery of memory and tries to blur the lines between waking life and dreams. I believe that the seeming random images we experience while dreaming are stories wanting to be told; dreams can be bringing us messages from deep inside our unconscious, or perhaps from somewhere outside ourselves. These stories deserve to be told, and the messages are worth listening to.

I use many traditional collage media - paper, photos, fabric - as well as materials from nature.

I incorporate flower petals, leaves and shells in order to create beautiful images.

I have been exploring the mystery of glass. Glass is fluid, even when it is in its solid state. That’s what creates the waves and bubbles in old glass. Glass can influence the way we see the world when we look through it; glass reflects our own image back to us. Andersen’s fairy tale “The Snow Queen” explores the effect of a shard of glass from a distorting mirror on a small boy’s character.  That story has fascinated me since I was a small child. I am increasingly incorporating glass into my work.

No material is off limits in collage. That’s what makes it so exciting. The results are often unexpected, and give us fresh ways to look at everyday objects.
